Two Montana Tech students are behind bars accused of firing shots near campus, prompting a lockdown early Sunday.
It happened at a residence on West Granite Street. Police say the SWAT team was called in around 2:30 a.m. after the men inside refused to let police in.
The SWAT team entered the home and the men were arrested. Police say they found at least one gun that appeared to have been discharged.
Students at Tech received a text message from the school warning them about a gunman near the campus about 1:30 a.m. and were warned to stay inside or avoid campus.
A second text from the college was sent about 6:35 a.m., saying the situation was over and the campus was safe.
The names of the suspects have not been released. They're expected in court Monday morning.
