Two Montana Tech students who are accused of firing a gun near campus, prompting a lockdown early Sunday, have been identified.
Clayton Giesick, 22, and Joshua Clark, 23, are charged with criminal endangerment. Clark was charged with two misdemeanors for possession of dangerous drugs and paraphernalia. They both posted bond and are scheduled to appear in court this afternoon.
Reports indicate that both men were intoxicated. There were several empty casings but no obvious damage at this time. There were several weapons reportedly collected from a home, including a 9 mm handgun, .44 Magnum, a rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun.
The incident happened early Sunday at a residence on West Granite Street. Police say the SWAT team was called in around 2:30 a.m. after the men inside refused to let police in.
The SWAT team entered the home and the men were arrested. Police say they found at least one gun that appeared to have been discharged.
Students at Montana Tech received a text message from the school warning them about a gunman near the campus about 1:30 a.m. and were warned to stay inside or avoid campus.
A second text from the college was sent about 6:35 a.m., saying the situation was over and the campus was safe.
