The Montana Grizzlies hit the home turf Saturday with a third straight Big Sky victory in their sights against winless Idaho State.

But ISU nearly beat the Griz last year, so the team said its focus was to start fast and pull away from the Bengals in the first half.

The Grizzlies were trying to start fast, but Justin Roper's pass was picked off by Jared Nash as Idaho State started very strong.

But UM came back with a drive that culminated in a 49-yard field goal try by Brody McKnight which was good. He had five field goals on the day and the first one gave Montana a 3-0 lead.

Roper hit Sam Gratton in the corner of the end zone at the end of the quarter and Gratton made a great over the shoulder grab and the Griz lead 10-0.

The Griz then really get the start they were looking for. Roper pitched out to Chase Reynolds for a run, or maybe a pass would've worked better with Justin Roper completely wide open on his route. A great call for Jonathan Davis and Coach Pflugrad, which made it 17-0 Griz.

At 10:30 of the second quarter, Russell Hill was trying to get the Bengals going but his pass was picked off by Erik Stoll, the Idaho native who transferred from ISU after the 2006 season. He had two picks on the day and got a nice return this time around to set up another field goal.

The Griz were up 20-0 when Kelvin Krosch beats the Grizzly secondary deep and Hill's lob pass was perfectly placed to set up a one yard score and make it 20-7 Griz.

Following another McKnight field goal, Roper kept it on an option and headed down the down to the five yard line. That sets up history as Chase Reynolds scored his milestone TD, becoming the allptime leading scorer at UM.

He passed Lex Hilliard and the celebration called for flying grenades. While Coach Robin Pflugrad said after the game that he didn't like the team celebrating, he's happy for Chase.

After an Idaho State score, UM answered with Roper going to Dan Moore in the flats and he made the touchdown happen.

The Griz cruised from there, picking up a 47-28 win.
