Forty seven of 77 employees at the Holcim Concrete plant outside Three Forks have been temporarily laid off.

Holcim representatives declined a recorded interview Thursday.

Vice President of Corporate Communications Robin DeCarlo says the company expects to re-hire the factory workers after four weeks. Officials cite current market conditions and rising operating costs as the reason for the lay-offs. Holcim employs about 2,000 people at plants throughout the country. The Montana factory at Trident is the only plant affected by this round of layoffs.

The last time the Trident plant experienced layoffs was 2001.
